presenting complete people

Colossians 1:28 We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete (telos) in Christ.

Our proclamation is a person, not a system. For us to communicate what it means to know, love, serve and treasure Christ, we need to take time to allow His goodness to minister to us. We need to take the time and energy to set our minds on Him and to receive grace from Him. It is out of the grace He gives that we then are able to admonish (really urge) and teach (instruct with insight and practical guidance) all different kinds of people. We do this as an act of worship. What we then present to the LORD are people. People who are actually who they were intended to be; whole people, healthy people; people at rest with themselves and their Creator, ready to share the grace that has been given them with others.

Lord Jesus, you are our hope and the hope for those around us. Help us receive the wisdom of abiding in you so we can offer the hope of abiding in you. And Lord, grant us the ability to present your hope with conviction, clarity and competency.

  1. If we “the Called out”, have even the smallest involvement with “false teachers” of other “gospels”
which are “really no gospel at all”, then are we really
confessing our faith in Christ, and proclaiming Him alone? If we are seen with those of the other “teachers”, have we been seen by the “lost” as equal?

“If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every part of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, then I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Him. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved; and to be steady on all battlefields besides is merely flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”
    -Martin Luther
If we “proclaim Him”, but we are not “admonishing and teaching every man with all wisdom”, how will we present every man complete (telos) in Christ, if we flinch on the battlefield and shake hands for the sake of “unity”?
“Unity without verity (truth) is no better than conspiracy” – John Trapp
We must not flinch with false teachers and other gospels, that are no good news at all.
