~ Matthew 3 ~
“The LORD is coming!! Refresh your thinking and get washed.”
“Vipers? Fruitless trees? Fire!”
“Dunking for rethinking allegiances is one thing.
He will immerse you in Spirit & fire! Keep the good, get rid of the worthless…”
Yeshua, which means “The Lord is salvation”, says he is ready to be dunked.
“What? How can this be?”
He goes into the water. He rises out of the water.
Heaven opens and the Spirit descends. A fiery phoenix? No. A gentle dove.
God’s anointing symbol points to peace.
THE DOVE DESCENDING BREAKS THE AIR
The dove descending breaks the air
With flames of incandescent terror
Of which the tongues declare
The one discharge from sin and error.
The only hope, or else despair
Lies in the choice of pyre or pyre-
To be redeemed from fire by fire.
Who then devised the torment? Love.
Love is the unfamiliar Name
Behind the hands that wove
The intolerable shirt of flame
Which human power cannot remove.
We only live, only suspire
Consumed by either fire or fire.
